Evening Ashore

A few simple layers cover marina dinners without overpacking.

Packing for an Adriatic yacht charter is different from packing for a hotel. Cabins are compact, storage is limited, and the same day can include swimming, wind, sun, marina showers and dinner ashore. The best approach is minimalist, practical and easy to stow.

The simple packing framework

CategoryBringAvoid
LuggageOne soft duffel or foldable bag per person.Hard rolling suitcases that cannot collapse into lockers.
ClothingSwimwear, lightweight shirts, linen layers, one warm layer and a simple dinner outfit.Heavy denim, formal shoes and duplicate outfits for every evening.
FootwearNon-marking deck shoes or grippy sandals plus one shore pair.Black-soled shoes, heels on deck and slippery flip-flops underway.
ProtectionReef-conscious sunscreen, hat, sunglasses retainer and light long sleeves.Relying only on tanning oil or one pair of sunglasses.
ElectronicsPower bank, charging cables, waterproof phone pouch and offline maps.Fragile equipment with no dry storage plan.

Documents and essentials

Carry passports or ID cards, booking confirmation, travel insurance details, payment card for deposits or marina expenses, and skipper documents if you are bareboating. Store digital copies offline as marina Wi-Fi and mobile reception are not equally reliable everywhere.

For comfort on board

A lightweight hoodie, earplugs, quick-dry towel, small dry bag and reusable water bottle make the week more comfortable. If you are joining a catamaran with families or mixed groups, pack with shared space in mind. The person who packs less usually enjoys the boat more.

Planning the full trip, not just the suitcase?

Pair this packing list with the pre-charter checklist so documents, arrival timing and provisioning are handled before boarding day.

What to leave at home

Leave bulky suitcases, excessive cosmetics, valuable jewellery and too many “just in case” outfits at home. The Adriatic charter wardrobe is simple: sun protection by day, one clean layer for the evening, and enough flexibility to move easily between cockpit, cabin and shore.
